Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning 4K Steelbook Preorder Gets Nice Price Cut

It’s now indeed possible too watch Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning from the comfort of your couch. The action franchise’s swan song released on Prime Video and other streamers for $20 this week. But if you’re a physical media enthusiast and want to complete your Mission: Impossible collection, you’ll have to wait until The Final Reckoning lands on 4K Blu-ray October 14. Preorders for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’s stylish Limited Edition Steelbook are discounted to $40 (was $55) at Amazon and Walmart.

Fans can also grab the newly reprinted Dead Reckoning Steelbook Edition for $25 (was $30) at Amazon and Walmart. And if you want 4K Steelbooks for more Mission: Impossible movies, Amazon has Ghost Protocol, Rogue Nation, and Fallout 4K Steelbooks for cheap. Alternatively, you can complete your set by picking up the standard 4K Blu-ray editions individually or in the Mission: Impossible 6-Movie Collection.

Take a closer look at Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’s upcoming 4K Blu-ray release as well as the new Dead Reckoning Steelbook Edition below.

$40 (was $55) | Releases October 14

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’s Limited Edition Steelbook has exclusive artwork featuring Ethan Hunt dangling from a biplane like in the movie. The IMF agent extraordinaire is also showcased running for his life, as he often needs to do.

This edition includes native 4K and 1080p Blu-ray discs as well as a digital copy of film. The 4K disc supports Dolby Vision and HDR10. On the audio side, you can hear all of the explosions, gunfire, and incredible theme music in surround sound with immersive Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD 7.1. Special features include an audio commentary with Tom Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie, behind-the-scenes featurettes showing off the wild stunts that Cruise rather famously performs instead of using a stunt double, and more.

Preorders for The Final Reckoning opened at $57 in May, but the price has since dropped to $40 at Amazon and Walmart. Both retailers offer preorder price guarantees, so you’ll pay the lowest price from the time you order until Final Reckoning ships in October. Neither retailer charges for your preorders until the product ships.

A standard 4K Blu-ray edition with the same content and a regular case will release the same day. The Final Reckoning is also getting a DVD edition, but so far there’s no indication a standard Blu-ray will be available. That said, both 4K versions include 1080p Blu-ray discs.

$25 (was $31)

Dead Reckoning’s Limited Edition Steelbook reprint launched August 5 for $31, but you can snag a copy for only $25. It’s nice that fans who missed out on this one the first time can pair it with The Final Reckoning.

The three-disc set includes 4K and 1080p versions of the film as well as a voucher for the digital edition. The 4K disc has Dolby Vision and HDR10, and surround sound options include Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD 7.1. For bonuses, there’s an audio commentary from director Christopher McQuarrie and editor Eddie Hamilton as well as 30 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage showcasing stunts and filming locations.

You should watch all of the Mission: Impossible movies in order regardless, but you absolutely need to watch Dead Reckoning before Final Reckoning. It’s essentially one big movie split into two parts. In fact, Dead Reckoning originally released with the subtitle “Part One” and The Final Reckoning was Dead Reckoning: Part Two before Paramount changed the name.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning Bonus Features

Here’s the list of special features for The Final Reckoning that have been revealed. This list isn’t exhaustive, as Paramount notes on the box that there’s “much more.”

  • Audio Commentary with Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie
  • Taking Flight featurette
  • Filming the Biplane Sequence
  • To the Depths featurette
  • Inside the Underwater Stunt
  • To the North – On Location in Svalbard
  • Additional Commentaries
  • Isolated Score Track
  • Deleted Scenes Montage

All eight films in the Mission: Impossible franchise have 4K Blu-ray editions with steelbook cases. Unfortunately, the matching Steelbook Editions for the first three movies are currently sold out. You can get Steelbook Editions of Ghost Protocol, Rogue Nation, and Fallout for around $20 each.

Mission: Impossible 4K Steelbook Editions

For the first three films, check out the budget-friendly standard 4K Blu-rays. Mission: Impossible 3 was sold out for many months, but it’s available now for less than $19.

Mission: Impossible 4K Standard Editions

In addition to the individual 4K Blu-ray Steelbooks and standard editions, there are multiple Mission: Impossible Blu-ray box sets. We’re guessing a complete series collection will release at some point, but for now the biggest set features the first six movies. You could buy The Final Reckoning and Dead Reckoning Steelbooks and get the rest of the series in the Mission: Impossible 6-Movie Collection. The 4K Blu-ray edition is available for $70 (was $84). This box set also includes standard Blu-ray editions of each film. Alternatively, you can buy the standard Blu-ray box set for $37 (was $60). If you opt for standard Blu-ray, it’s worth considering the Mission: Impossible 5-Movie Collection instead, as it’s only $15.73.

If you want to check out the original 1960s Mission: Impossible TV series that inspired the film franchise, all seven seasons and 171 episodes are available in a massive, 46-disc DVD box set for $65 (was $77).
